The Aiper Scuba V3 Ultra cleans the floor, walls and waterline of in-ground pools, and it also cleans the water surface. Aiper rates it for pools up to 3,875 square feet. Two cameras guide its route, a 3-micron fine filter backs up the main filter, and the app can schedule its runs.

Who It's For

This robot suits an in-ground pool of up to 3,875 square feet or 66 feet long, in a rectangular, round or freeform shape. It fits an owner who wants floating leaves collected as well as the floor, walls and waterline scrubbed, and who is happy to run the robot from the Aiper app. Since it weighs 28.8 pounds, you should also be comfortable lifting a heavy robot out of the water.

Look Elsewhere If

You may want a different robot if lifting 28.8 pounds out of the pool would be hard for you, especially if you also carry it to a storage spot. Aiper does not list steps among the areas it cleans, so if leaves tend to collect on your steps, a robot that lists them could suit you better. Surface cleaning adds less if your pool rarely collects floating debris. A pool larger than 3,875 square feet, or longer than 66 feet, is past Aiper's rating.

Key Features

Cleaning Coverage And Brushes. Aiper lists the floor, walls, waterline and water surface as the areas the V3 Ultra cleans, and its active brushes scrub as it moves. For the surface, Aiper describes a funneling system that channels floating particles into the cleaner, which could cut down on netting if leaves land in your pool most days. Aiper also describes cleaning in shallow areas such as sun shelves, with sensors that detect the edge so the robot does not drive off it. Aiper lists a maximum incline of 15 degrees, so a steep slope between the shallow and deep ends is worth checking first.

Filters And Suction. Aiper describes multi-layer filtration: a main filter rated at 180 microns with a fine filter rated at 3 microns. A coarse filter on its own lets fine dust and silt through, so the second layer matters most if fine debris is a regular problem in your pool. The basket lifts out through the top, so you can empty it without turning the robot over. Aiper rates suction at 8,500 gph from two pumps.

Battery And Charging. Aiper lists a runtime of up to 3 hours per charge, and a full charge takes 4.5 hours. Aiper quotes a much longer run for surface cleaning alone, so that longer figure does not apply to a full clean of the floor and walls. Because charging takes longer than a run, a second clean on the same day needs some planning.

Navigation And App. Two cameras and an ultrasonic sensor let the robot recognize debris and obstacles, according to Aiper. Aiper says it slows down near debris so it does not scatter it, steers around obstacles and adjusts its path to the pool. The app handles scheduling, mode switching, cleaning history and device status. Aiper's Navium mode goes a step further and builds a weekly cleaning schedule from the pool's cleaning history, your usage and the local weather, which could suit an owner who would rather not plan runs at all.

Retrieval And Water Care. Aiper's JellyFloat technology brings the robot to the surface for retrieval and helps it free itself if it gets stuck. That makes it easier to reach from the edge, though you still lift the full 28.8 pounds out of the water. Aiper also builds in a chamber for a chlorine tablet, which it describes as continuous water treatment. The tablets are sold separately.

How It Compares

Aiper Scuba V3 Check Price at Aiper

Aiper Scuba V3 sits one tier down, in the Premium tier, and Aiper rates it for pools up to 1,600 square feet. It cleans the floor, walls and waterline with active brushes and offers app scheduling, but Aiper does not list surface cleaning for it. At 18.1 pounds, it is much lighter to lift out than the V3 Ultra. If your pool fits within its rating and you already net floating leaves another way, it covers the same underwater work for a smaller pool.

Aiper Scuba X1 Pro Max Check Price at Aiper

Aiper Scuba X1 Pro Max sits in the Pro tier as well. Aiper lists a longer runtime for it, up to 5 hours per charge. It also lists steps among the areas it cleans, which Aiper does not list for the V3 Ultra. Its rated area of 3,230 square feet is smaller, although Aiper rates it for a longer pool of up to 100 feet. Aiper lists surface cleaning for both robots, and both map the pool and offer app scheduling. It could suit you better if your pool is longer than 66 feet or has steps that collect leaves, or if a longer run on each charge matters more to you than a larger area rating.

Worth Knowing

Aiper gives two limits, 3,875 square feet of pool and 66 feet of length, so check your pool against both. Aiper describes shallow-area cleaning on sun shelves but does not list steps, so steps may still need a brush. Aiper lists vinyl, fiberglass, tile, gunite and pebble finishes, and saltwater as well as chlorine pools. Aiper says the cameras store and upload no visual data, which may matter to you if a camera in your pool raises privacy questions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the V3 Ultra clean the water surface?

Yes. Aiper lists the surface along with the floor, walls and waterline, and describes a funneling system that channels floating particles into the cleaner.

Can it clean pool steps?

No. Aiper does not list steps among its cleaning areas. It describes shallow-area cleaning for sun shelves, so your steps may still need a brush now and then.

How large a pool is it rated for?

Up to 3,875 square feet or 66 feet long, according to Aiper. Check both figures against your pool before you choose.

How long does a charge last?

Up to 3 hours, according to Aiper, and a full recharge takes 4.5 hours. Aiper quotes a longer run for surface cleaning alone.

Can I schedule it from my phone?

Yes. The Aiper app handles scheduling, mode switching and cleaning history, and its Navium mode can build a weekly schedule from your pool's history and the local weather.

Is the fine filter useful for dust?

Yes, if fine debris is a regular problem. The 3-micron fine filter catches much smaller particles than the 180-micron main filter can on its own.

Does it work in saltwater pools?

Yes. Aiper lists saltwater, mineral and ozone or UV systems along with chlorine pools.

How heavy is it?

28.8 pounds. JellyFloat brings it to the surface for retrieval, but you still lift it out of the water yourself.
