The Wybot C1 cleans the floor, walls and waterline of pools up to 1,615 square feet, and Wybot lists the steps among the areas it covers. The catch is its single 180-micron filter, which is meant for leaves and sand rather than fine dust. It runs for up to 2.5 hours per charge.
Who It's For
If you have been looking at cordless robots for a pool with steps, the C1 is likely to come up, because Wybot names steps and slopes among the places it cleans. It suits an inground or above-ground pool of up to 1,615 square feet where leaves and sand are the usual debris. It also suits owners who are happy to set a schedule in the app and collect the robot with a pole hook.
Look Elsewhere If
You may want a different robot if fine dust, pollen or silt is a regular problem in your pool. The C1 has one 180-micron filter, and Wybot's own FAQ says the robot is built for debris rather than ultra-fine filtration. Smooth tile, mosaic or acrylic finishes are another reason to pause, since the manual says slippery surfaces may not work well without the floating parts. And if a camera-based cleaning mode appeals to you, Wybot keeps that for the C2 Vision.

Key Features
Cleaning Steps. Wybot's US page lists steps and slopes among the areas the C1 cleans, and the manual says it can climb steps, drains and shallow water. It moves on tracks rather than wheels, which helps it grip on those edges. Pool steps usually still need some brushing by hand. However, if leaves tend to collect on yours, this feature could be a worthwhile addition.
Battery Life And Charging. On paper, up to 2.5 hours may look modest next to robots that quote three hours or more. Wybot pairs that figure with a rating of up to 1,615 square feet, so it is worth reading the two together rather than the runtime alone. The 4,600 mAh battery takes 3 hours to refill, and when it runs low, the robot parks against the wall so you can reach it with the pole hook.
Modes And Scheduling. The app offers five modes: full pool, floor only, wall only, wall then floor, and an eco floor mode that runs longer than floor only. The robot follows S- and N-shaped paths instead of turning at random. A cycle timer can also split the cleaning into shorter runs across the week. The app connects over Bluetooth, and only while the robot is out of the water, so choose the mode before it goes in.
Filter And Brushes. There is one filter, a 180-micron basket under the top cover. You hold the cover handle, press it open and lift the basket out, ideally before the debris dries. It works much like a sink strainer, catching leaves and sand well, but it is not meant for fine dust. The manual shows a scrubbing brush, which Wybot does not describe as powered.
Suction And Weight. Suction is rated at 3,038 gallons per hour. At 17.6 pounds, the C1 is a moderate lift, and Wybot suggests raising it upright so the water drains out on the way.

How It Compares
Wybot C2 Check Price at Wybot
Wybot C2 weighs the same 17.6 pounds and carries the same manual rating of 1,615 square feet. It then pairs a 10-micron fine net with its basket and adds two more cleaning modes and up to 3 hours per charge. Its suction is rated at 3,592 gallons per hour, and it sits one tier up, in the Premium tier. If dust and pollen settle on your floor, the C2 is the one to weigh. If leaves and sand make up most of your debris, the C1 covers the same areas, steps included.
Aiper Scuba S1 Check Price at Aiper
Aiper Scuba S1 is Aiper's rival for a similar pool size, rated for 1,600 square feet and up to 3 hours per charge. It pairs its basket with a much finer 3-micron filter and has a powered brush, so it is better equipped for silt. Aiper does not list step cleaning for it, and it also sits in the Premium tier. It is the better choice if a fine filter matters more to you than clean steps.
Worth Knowing
The C1's figures on this page come from Wybot's manual and its US product page, and we have not run the C1 ourselves. Wybot's store now labels the C1 an upgrade, but the figures it lists match the manual, so this page uses them. The manual's FAQ mentions inground pools, while the US page lists above-ground pools as well. The box includes a charger, a hook and floating parts for slippery surfaces, but no caddy.
Care And Maintenance
From the Wybot manual:
- Switch the robot off before you open the top cover.
- Rinse the filter basket with clean water after every clean, before the debris dries.
- Lift the robot out upright with the hook on your pool pole, so the water drains.
- Dry the charging port, then charge at least ten feet from the pool edge on a GFCI outlet, never while the robot is running.
- For winter, dry the robot and the basket, charge it fully, store it somewhere cool and dry, and top up the charge every three months.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Wybot C1 clean pool steps?
Yes. Wybot's US page lists steps and slopes, and the manual says the robot can climb steps, drains and shallow water.
How long does it run on a charge?
Up to 2.5 hours, according to Wybot. A full recharge takes 3 hours.
Is the upgraded C1 on Wybot's store a different robot?
Not as far as the published figures go. Wybot's store page lists the same runtime, pool size, suction and filter as the manual.
Can I set a schedule?
Yes. The app's cycle timer runs the C1 on a set pattern through the week, as long as you leave it in the pool with a full charge.
Does it work in above-ground pools?
Yes, according to Wybot's US page, which lists above-ground and inground pools. The manual's FAQ mentions only inground pools, so it is worth reading Wybot's guidance before you buy.
Will it pick up fine dust?
Only partly. Its single 180-micron basket is meant for leaves, sand and everyday debris, and Wybot says the robot is not built for ultra-fine filtration.
What comes in the box?
The robot, a filter basket, a charger, a hook for your pool pole, floating parts and the manuals. There is no caddy.
What does the warranty cover?
Two years on the battery, motor and circuit board. Wearing parts such as the filter basket and brushes are not covered.
