The Dolphin Nautilus CC Plus cleans the floor and walls of inground pools up to 40 feet long, and it adds Wi-Fi scheduling through Dolphin's app, which the plain Nautilus CC does not have. It plugs into a power supply, so there is no battery to charge. Like the CC, it leaves the waterline to you.

Who It's For

The CC Plus suits the owner of an inground pool up to 40 feet long who wants the floor and walls cleaned on a regular schedule. You would like to choose the cleaning days on your phone and then leave the robot to it. A cable running to the deck does not bother you, as long as there is no battery to charge or wear out.

Look Elsewhere If

You may want a different robot if a ring of grime at the waterline is your main complaint, because Dolphin does not list waterline cleaning for the CC Plus. It is also cleared for inground pools only, so if you have an above-ground pool, the plain Nautilus CC is rated for both types. And if your pool is longer than 40 feet, a model rated for longer pools is the safer choice.

Where To Buy

Key Features

What The Plus Adds. Next to the plain Nautilus CC, the headline addition is Wi-Fi. The MyDolphin Plus app lets you start, stop and schedule cycles from your phone, and a weekly timer repeats them on the days you choose. The two robots differ in other ways too, from the brushes to the weight, and the sections below cover them. If you are often away in summer, this is the feature that lets the pool get cleaned without you.

Power And Cable. The robot runs from a power supply on the deck, so there is no battery to wear out and no chance of it stopping partway through a cycle for lack of charge. The trade is a cable to lay out each time. Dolphin fits a swivel, which keeps the cable from twisting as the robot turns, and the plain CC does without one.

Brushes And Suction. Dolphin fits two combined brushes but does not list them as active, which means they are not powered on their own. Its suction is rated at 4,500 gallons per hour, which is higher than the plain CC's rating. If your walls tend to build up a stubborn film, the CC's powered brush is worth weighing against the app.

Filter And Weight. The ultra-fine filter kit lifts out through the top, so you do not have to turn a wet robot upside down to empty it. That helps, because the CC Plus weighs 20.8 pounds, about six pounds more than the plain CC. Dolphin gives no micron figure for the filter and fits no full-filter indicator, so it is a good habit to check the filter after each cycle.

Pool Size And Shape. Dolphin rates the CC Plus by length rather than surface area, up to 40 feet, and for inground pools only. Its spec sheet lists rectangular, round and free-form shapes. If the longest side of your pool is close to that limit, measure it before you buy.

How It Compares

Dolphin Nautilus CC Check Price on Amazon

Dolphin Nautilus CC is the same idea without the app. It weighs 14.8 pounds, has one powered brush instead of two passive ones, and is rated for inground and above-ground pools up to 33 feet. There is no timer at all, so every cycle starts at the power supply. If your pool is shorter and you are happy to switch the robot on yourself, it is the one to look at first.

Dolphin Sigma Check Price on Amazon

Dolphin Sigma keeps the app and adds waterline cleaning. Dolphin rates it for pools up to 50 feet and gives it a longer 2.5-hour cycle. It is heavier, at 24.6 pounds, and sits a tier up, in Pro. Choose it if the band of grime at the surface is what bothers you most.

Polaris Freedom Check Price on Amazon

Polaris Freedom drops the cable altogether and also cleans the waterline. In return, it has a battery to charge between cycles, and it also sits in the Pro tier. Like the CC Plus, it is listed for inground pools only.

Worth Knowing

Dolphin does not list the cable length on its US spec sheet, so check the distance from your power outlet to the far end of the pool before you buy. The warranty is 1 year, which is shorter than the cover Dolphin gives the Sigma or the Premier. There is no handheld remote and no delayed start. Dolphin also offers versions of the CC Plus that come with a caddy for carrying it.

Care And Maintenance

From the Dolphin manual:

  1. Unplug the power supply before you touch the filter, the brushes or the impeller.
  2. Put the robot in the water before you plug it in, and lay the cable out straight with no twists.
  3. To take it out, pull the floating cable gently until the robot surfaces, then lift it by the handle, never by the cable.
  4. Rinse the brushes with clean water after every cycle, and refit the filters without forcing them.
  5. For storage, coil the cable and keep the robot somewhere dry and cool, out of sun and frost.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the Nautilus CC Plus clean the waterline?

No. Dolphin lists the floor and walls, and its spec sheet says there is no waterline scrubbing, so that band still needs a brush now and then.

What size pool is it rated for?

Inground pools with a longest side of 40 feet or less. Dolphin gives a length rating rather than a surface area.

Do I need Wi-Fi to use it?

Not to clean. Scheduling and remote starts run through the MyDolphin Plus app over Wi-Fi, but you can also start a cycle from the power supply.

Can it go in an above-ground pool?

No. Dolphin limits the CC Plus to inground pools. For an above-ground pool, the plain Nautilus CC is rated for both types.

Is it safe in a vinyl-lined pool?

Yes. Dolphin's manual covers liner pools and offers an optional PVC brush for concrete, PVC, fiberglass and liner surfaces.

How long is a cleaning cycle?

Two hours by default. The weekly timer can repeat that cycle on the days you set in the app.

What warranty does it come with?

One year, according to Dolphin. The Sigma and the Premier come with longer warranties.
