The Aiper Scuba X1 cleans the floor, walls and waterline of inground pools up to 2,150 square feet, according to the Amazon listing. Its fine filter targets smaller debris alongside a removable main basket. It runs for up to 3 hours per charge, and you can select a cleaning mode with its onboard button.

Who It's For

The Scuba X1 suits an inground pool where dirt collects on the floor and along the walls, especially if fine dust is a recurring problem. It supports pools up to 66 feet long, including rectangular, round and freeform layouts. The manual describes an onboard button for selecting a cleaning mode before putting it in the water, so you can choose the area to clean at the poolside.

Look Elsewhere If

You may want a different robot if you want floating leaves and insects collected from the water surface, because this model cleans below it and along the waterline. It also has a floor incline limit of 15 degrees, so a steeper pool bottom falls outside its rating. For an exotic pool finish, choose a cleaner approved for that surface. The supported finishes here include vinyl, gunite, fiberglass, tile and pebble.

Key Features

Battery And Charging. Aiper gives a runtime of up to 3 hours and a recharge time of 4 hours. The manual describes charging on the supplied dock or through the robot's charging port. Both options require dry charging connections. The status light pulses while charging and turns solid green when the battery is full, so you can check it without opening the app.

Main And Fine Filters. The main filter is rated at 180 microns, and the fine filter at approximately 3 microns. The manual recommends using the basket alone when there is plenty of visible debris. Add the fine filter when larger debris is minimal and silt is the problem. Both filters come out through the top, so you can reach them without turning the robot over.

Cleaning Modes. The manual describes an S shaped route in Floor mode and an N shaped route in Wall mode. Smart mode cleans the walls and floor in sequence, adjusting its path according to the remaining battery. Waterline mode moves horizontally along the edge. At corners or obstacles, the robot descends, changes walls or goes around the obstruction, then resumes waterline cleaning.

Sensors And App. The manual describes registration and network setup in the Aiper app, with Bluetooth or a QR code available for pairing. Aiper describes ultrasonic sensors that detect obstacles ahead and slow the robot down. Its adaptive cleaning path is intended for irregular or complex pool bottoms. That feature could be useful in a freeform pool with changes in the floor's outline.

Brushes And Suction. Aiper specifies active rollers at the front and rear, with tracks for traction. The flow rate is 6,600 gph. The maker names sand, leaves, hair, algae, insects and dust among the debris it is designed to collect.

How It Compares

Aiper Scuba X1 Pro Max Get the deal at Aiper

Aiper Scuba X1 Pro Max adds surface cleaning and extends the rated area to 3,230 square feet, so it suits an owner who wants floating debris collected as well as the floor, walls and waterline cleaned. Choose it for a larger pool or a longer cleaning session, with a runtime of up to 5 hours and a higher stated flow rate of 8,500 gph.

Aiper Scuba S3 Check Price at Aiper

Aiper Scuba S3 offers the same cleaning areas in a lighter body weighing 18.0 pounds, which could make regular removal easier if the pool edge is awkward to reach. Its rated area is 1,600 square feet, so choose it for a smaller pool where easier lifting matters more than the extra coverage of the X1.

Aiper Scuba S1 Get the deal at Aiper

Aiper Scuba S1 runs for up to 4.5 hours per charge, which suits an owner who wants a longer session while keeping floor, wall and waterline cleaning. Its rated area is 1,600 square feet and its flow rate is 4,200 gph, so choose it for a smaller pool where a longer run matters more than a higher flow rate.

Worth Knowing

The Amazon listing sells the Scuba X1 as a renewed unit. The manual says the robot parks at the pool edge when the battery runs low. Attach the supplied retrieval hook to a standard telescopic pool pole to pull it up, then let the stored water drain. The pole is not included. Its battery is nonreplaceable, so battery wear cannot be addressed by fitting a replacement pack. The manual also requires running the robot separately from other pool equipment, including the pool filter, cleaner or skimmer.

Care And Maintenance

From the Aiper manual:

  1. The manual says to turn the robot off, place it on a flat surface and lift the top cover.
  2. Lift out the basket by its handle, open the latch and empty it. Release the fine filter's rubber strip from its slot.
  3. Rinse the basket and fine filter separately. Rinse the fine filter inside and out, scrubbing by hand if needed.
  4. Refit the fine filter, align the marked corners and seat the rubber strip fully before reinstalling the basket.
  5. Store the robot indoors in a cool, ventilated place away from direct sunlight.

Frequently Asked Questions

How large a pool can it clean?

Up to 2,150 square feet. It also covers pools up to 66 feet long, with support for rectangular, round and freeform layouts.

How long does a charge last?

Up to 3 hours. A full recharge takes 4 hours, so you will need that time at the charger before another run after the battery is depleted.

Does it clean along the waterline?

Yes. The manual describes horizontal cleaning along the waterline, with a dedicated mode you can select when that band of the pool needs attention.

Can I use it in a saltwater pool?

Yes. Saltwater compatibility is part of its specification. It also supports chlorine, mineral and ozone or UV treated water, so you can use it with those water treatments. The manual sets limits on salt and chlorine levels for use.

How do I select a cleaning mode?

Use the onboard button. The manual says a brief press cycles through the cleaning modes, then you place the robot in the pool to start the selected task.

How much does it weigh?

24.3 pounds. You still lift it out after cleaning, so it suits someone who can carry that weight from the pool edge to the charging location.

Do the filters need to dry after cleaning?

No. The manual says drying the basket and fine filter after cleaning is optional. It recommends drying them to help prevent odors from trapped moisture.
