The Dreame Z1 Pro scrubs an inground pool's floor, walls and waterline, with a handheld remote for underwater control. Dreame also describes tanning ledge cleaning and automatic parking at the waterline. Its remote lets you interrupt a run for spot cleaning or call the robot back when you want to retrieve it.

Who It's For

You want a cordless cleaner that can move from the floor to the walls, with separate cleaning modes for the areas that need attention. It suits rectangular, round and freeform inground pools, including those with a sloping floor within its supported incline of 15 degrees. If your pool has a tanning ledge, Dreame says this model can clean it. The remote could also be useful when you can see debris you want the robot to reach.

Look Elsewhere If

You may want a different robot if you want cleaning to start on a recurring schedule, because this model requires you to start each session. Its filter handles fine through large debris, but it does not collect microscopic particles, so it will not suit an owner buying primarily for that job. Dreame also warns that pure black, highly reflective or fully transparent glass pools may cause mapping failures. Those finishes can interfere with the navigation feature that guides its route.

Where To Buy

Key Features

Underwater Remote Control. Dreame describes a LiFi handheld remote that communicates with the robot underwater. Its controls include moving the cleaner, spot cleaning, pausing or resuming a task, and instant recall. If you notice debris after a run has started, you can direct the robot toward it. The recall control also lets you bring cleaning to an end when you need the robot back within reach.

Cleaning Modes And Waterline Movement. You can choose Full Pool, Bottom Only, Wall Only or Efficient Waterline through the Dreame Home app or the mode button on the cleaner. Dreame describes horizontal waterline cleaning. A separate waterline setting lets you target that band without selecting a session that also covers the floor and walls.

Mapping And App Connection. Advanced mapping guides the cleaner's route, and Dreame says saved maps can be switched through the app's map management controls. A stable connection between the phone and device is required for that change. Once an app task has been assigned, the manufacturer says the cleaner executes it offline. Weak wireless reception around the pool therefore need not interrupt an assigned cleaning task.

Brushes And Filtration. Active brushes scrub as the tracked cleaner moves over pool surfaces. Dreame describes dual brushes and dual pump motors, with suction rated at 8,000 gph. The main filter is 180 microns and opens from the top. You can reach the debris basket from above, which could make emptying it more convenient than having to turn this heavy cleaner over for access underneath.

Battery And Charging. The battery holds 9,600 mAh, and a full recharge takes 6 hours. Dreame supplies a magnetic charger that connects to the cleaner between sessions. Charging means taking the robot out of service for part of the day, so back to back cleaning runs include a wait. The cordless design keeps a power cable out of the water while the cleaner is working.

How It Compares

Dreame Z1 Get the deal at Dreame

Dreame Z1 is the sibling to choose if you want Dreame's mapped floor, wall and waterline cleaning in a lighter body, since it weighs 26.0 pounds. It covers up to 1,950 square feet and shares the Z1 Pro's suction rating, so it suits a smaller pool where the Pro's remote control and tanning ledge cleaning are less useful.

Aiper Scuba S1 Pro Check Renewed Price on Amazon

Aiper Scuba S1 Pro offers app scheduling and weighs 20.9 pounds, so choose it if recurring starts and carrying the cleaner matter more to you than a handheld remote. Its coverage reaches 2,150 square feet, putting it close to the Z1 Pro's area rating while retaining advanced mapping and cleaning of the floor, walls and waterline.

Beatbot AquaSense 2 Check Price on Amazon

Beatbot AquaSense 2 is the alternative for a larger pool, with coverage up to 3,230 square feet and app scheduling for owners who want recurring cleaning sessions. It runs for up to 4 hours and weighs 23.1 pounds, so choose it if you need longer battery sessions and a lighter lift, with the same floor, wall and waterline cleaning areas.

Worth Knowing

Dreame says the robot automatically parks at the waterline when cleaning finishes, giving you a place to collect it at the pool's edge. Its status lights distinguish standby, charging and errors: blinking blue means standby, a green progress bar indicates charging, and solid red signals an error. These indicators let you check its status at the cleaner itself.

Dreame also says the app notifies you when firmware updates are available. The warranty lasts 2 years, and the manufacturer asks owners to unbind the device in the app before shipping it for repairs or returns.

Frequently Asked Questions

How large a pool can it clean?

Up to 2,160 square feet. Its supported layouts include rectangular, round and freeform shapes.

How long does it run on a charge?

Up to 3 hours. Floor, wall and waterline modes let you direct that battery time toward an individual area or select a full pool clean.

Can it clean pool steps?

Yes. Dreame says structured light recognition helps it clean pool steps. The manufacturer describes cleaning steps within a supported height range without slipping.

Can I use it in saltwater?

Yes. Dreame sets upper limits for salt and chlorine levels and says to rinse the robot after each use in saltwater.

What do I do with the filter after cleaning?

Empty the basket. Dreame's product FAQ says to remove the cleaner after each use and empty its filter. Store the cleaner dry afterward.

How heavy is it to lift?

37.1 pounds. Waterline parking brings it within reach for retrieval, but you still have to lift it out and carry it away.

Which pool finishes are compatible?

Vinyl, gunite, fiberglass, tile and pebble. Compatibility includes hard and soft pool walls, so it covers several finishes used in inground pools.

What comes in the box?

The cleaner, remote, magnetic charger and retrieval hook. Dreame also includes a user manual and quick start guide to help you set up its controls.
