The Aiper Scuba S1 cleans the floor, walls and waterline of pools up to 1,600 square feet, with no cable on the deck. Aiper rates the current edition for up to 3 hours per charge. A 3-micron fine filter backs up the main basket, and the app holds a weekly cleaning plan.
Who It's For
The Scuba S1 suits an inground or above-ground pool of up to 1,600 square feet or 50 feet long, where you want the walls and the waterline cleaned as well as the floor. You would rather lift a robot out and charge it than lay out a cable each time, and you like setting a weekly plan in an app and leaving the robot to it.
Look Elsewhere If
You may want a different robot if your steps collect leaves, because Aiper does not list step cleaning for the Scuba S1, while the Wybot C2 does. Pools longer than 50 feet are also past its rating, so the Scuba S1 Pro is the better fit there. And if you would rather not charge a robot at all, a corded model such as the Nautilus CC Plus removes that job.

Key Features
Battery And Charging. The battery holds 7,800 mAh. Aiper rates it for up to 3 hours of cleaning, and a full recharge takes 4 hours. That works out to one long clean and then a few hours on the charger before the next. If you plan to clean every day, set the schedule with the charging time in mind.
Filters. The main basket stops debris down to 180 microns, and a 3-micron MicroMesh layer catches the fine dust that a coarser basket lets through. To empty it, you open the top shell and lift the basket out by its handle. Fine mesh tends to clog sooner than coarse mesh, so a rinse after every run is a good habit. Aiper treats the MicroMesh filter as a replaceable part, so plan on buying a new one from time to time.
Navigation. Some cordless robots simply turn when they meet a wall and carry on at random. Aiper's WavePath navigation uses acceleration and inertial sensors instead, so the Scuba S1 covers the floor in systematic passes and climbs the walls in an N-shaped path. The Scuba S1 Pro has a mapping system with infrared sensors.
App And Scheduling. A weekly cleaning plan and over-the-air updates run through Aiper's app. The app is also where you switch on Eco mode, which Aiper describes as a mode for daily maintenance that stretches a charge further than the standard modes. You set the plan once, and the robot follows it, so the main jobs left to you are charging it and emptying the basket.
Brush And Tracks. One active PVC roller does the scrubbing, which means it turns on its own rather than only riding along as the robot moves. It runs on caterpillar tracks rather than wheels. Suction is rated at 4,200 gallons per hour.

How It Compares
Aiper Scuba S1 Pro Check Price at Aiper
Aiper Scuba S1 Pro is the step up for bigger pools, rated for 2,150 square feet or 66 feet in length. It swaps the single roller for two and adds a mapping system with infrared sensors. It sits a full tier higher, in Pro, so it makes the most sense if your pool is longer than 50 feet.
Wybot C2 Check Price at Wybot
Wybot C2 covers the same zones for a similar area of 1,615 square feet, and it also runs for up to 3 hours per charge. It adds steps to its cleaning list and pairs a 10-micron net with its basket. Its brush is not listed as powered. Choose it if leaves on the steps are a regular job for you.
Dolphin Nautilus CC Plus Check Price on Amazon
Dolphin Nautilus CC Plus is the corded route, with nothing to charge, Wi-Fi scheduling and a 2-hour cycle. It skips the waterline, though, and it is meant for inground pools only. Pick it if you would rather not charge a robot between cleans.
Worth Knowing
Aiper has sold more than one edition under the Scuba S1 name, and the editions differ in runtime. This page covers the current edition, which Aiper rates for 3 hours per charge, and the manual it links to is Aiper's newest, with the same 3-hour figure. A manual for an earlier edition still turns up online with a shorter runtime, so check which edition a listing describes before you buy. Aiper does not publish a weight for this model. The box holds a charger and a retrieval hook, but no caddy, and the hook needs a pool pole of your own.
Care And Maintenance
From the Aiper manual:
- Switch the robot off before you open it or do any maintenance.
- Lift it out with the retrieval hook, hold it by the handle and let the water drain.
- Open the top shell and lift the filter basket out by its handle, then press its latch and pull up the cover to open it. Empty and clean the basket, take out the MicroMesh filter and rinse it inside and out, then put both back.
- Charge it switched off with a dry port, uncovered and out of direct sun.
- Before winter or a long break, clean and dry the shells, wheels, roller brushes and charging port, then charge the battery to about half every two months while it is stored.
