The Wybot A1 collects debris from an above-ground pool's floor, with a button on the robot that sets how long each run lasts. Its filter opens from the top, and Wybot gives its weight as 7.7 pounds. A cotton foam layer accompanies the main filter, while a supplied hook helps with retrieval.

Who It's For

You have an above-ground pool with up to 1,076 square feet of floor to clean, and debris tends to settle on the bottom between swims. The A1 collects fine, medium and large debris by suction. It suits an owner who prefers to choose a cycle on the cleaner, lift it out after use and recharge it away from the pool. No power cable runs into the water while it cleans.

Look Elsewhere If

You may want a different robot if you need the walls or waterline cleaned along with the floor. The A1 stays on the bottom and cleans the floor by suction only. It also falls short if you want microscopic debris removed from the water. A floor that slopes by 15 degrees or more is outside its working range.

Key Features

Battery And Charging. Wybot specifies a 2,600 mAh battery and a full recharge time of 2.5 hours. The manual describes connecting the supplied cable and adapter to a power outlet, so charging takes place outside the pool. Green lights on the front show charging progress and battery level.

Run Length Button. You choose a run length by pressing the power button on the robot, according to the manual. The default setting is the full cycle. The quick-start guide says to leave it in the pool until the whole cycle finishes when you select a setting other than the default.

Filter And Suction. The main filter is rated at 180 microns, and the manual identifies cotton foam as another part of the filter tray. Wybot gives the suction rate as 2,140 gph. The filter comes out through the top of the body, so you open the cover from above to reach the collected debris instead of turning the cleaner over.

Movement And Edges. The A1 travels on wheels and uses random navigation around the floor. Wybot lists swivel wheels, and the manual says adjusting them changes its cleaning pattern. Wybot specifies dual drive motors to move the cleaner around the pool floor. Wybot says it briefly pauses when it reaches an edge or reverses to enhance edge cleaning, then resumes moving across the floor.

Parking And Retrieval. The manual says it parks beside the pool wall when cleaning finishes or the battery runs low. You fit the supplied hook to a standard pool pole and use it to bring the cleaner to the surface. From there, lift it by the handle and hold it vertically to let water drain as you take it out.

How It Compares

Aiper Seagull SE Check Price at Aiper

Aiper Seagull SE shares the random navigation and passive brushes, with a smaller rating of 850 square feet and a body that is slightly lighter to carry between uses. It weighs 7.6 pounds and suits an owner who values that small weight reduction and accepts reaching the filter from underneath when emptying out collected debris after a run.

Higgsinno ezSpirit 01 Check Price on Amazon

Higgsinno ezSpirit 01 is the alternative for an owner who wants advanced mapping and app scheduling while keeping the same rated floor area, and it runs for up to 4 hours. Choose it if a longer session and phone controls matter more than carrying less weight, because its 12.3 pounds makes it heavier to move between the pool and a charging location.

Aiper Scuba SE Check Price on Amazon

Aiper Scuba SE sits in the Budget tier, with a smaller coverage rating of 860 square feet for an owner whose pool fits that limit. It suits you if a shorter runtime is enough, since it runs for up to 1.5 hours.

Worth Knowing

The manual says to keep swimmers out of the pool while the cleaner operates and to run it separately from the pool's filter. If the water is very dirty or full of suspended particles, Wybot recommends running the circulation and filtration system first.

For charging, the manual calls for an authorized charger and a GFCI-protected outlet, with the robot switched off and kept away from direct sunlight and water. It also warns against using extension cords or damaged charging cords. Fully charge the battery before selecting a cleaning cycle.

Care And Maintenance

From the Wybot manual:

  1. Switch the cleaner off, release the side fasteners and lift off the cover.
  2. Remove the filter trays before they dry, shake out debris and rinse them with hose water. Hand wash the cotton foam, then refit the filter basket and cover.
  3. Dry the charging port thoroughly before recharging.
  4. For seasonal storage, dry the cleaner and basket, fully charge the battery and remove the flipper. Store it somewhere cool and ventilated, protected from sunlight, heat and frost. Following the quick-start guide, charge it every three months in storage.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a charge last?

Up to 2 hours, according to Wybot. You can also choose shorter cleaning sessions with the onboard controls if you do not need the full continuous run.

How large a pool can it clean?

Up to 1,076 square feet. Wybot recommends it for that floor area, and the cleaner's cordless design means you recharge it outside the pool between uses.

Can I use it in saltwater?

Yes. The A1 supports saltwater as well as chlorine pools. The manual sets maximum chlorine and salt levels for the water in which it operates.

Which pool finishes can it clean?

Vinyl, gunite, fiberglass and tile are compatible. Its wheeled body uses suction to collect debris, with compatibility covering fine, medium and large material on the pool floor.

Does it need an app?

No. Wybot says it has neither app nor remote control, so you choose a run length with the button on the robot before putting it in the pool.

How heavy is it to carry?

7.7 pounds, according to Wybot. Its handle is also used when lifting it from the pool, after bringing it within reach with the supplied retrieval hook.

What comes with the robot?

A charger, retrieval hook, flipper and filter tray, along with the manual and quick-start guide. The manual identifies cotton foam as part of the supplied filter tray.
