The Dolphin Nautilus CC scrubs the floor and walls of pools up to 33 feet long, inground or above-ground, with a powered brush. It is one of the lighter wall-climbing Dolphins at 14.8 pounds. In return, it leaves out a timer, an app and waterline cleaning, so each two-hour cycle starts when you switch it on.

Who It's For

The Nautilus CC suits a pool owner who wants the floor and walls scrubbed without learning an app. Your pool is no longer than 33 feet, and it can be inground or above-ground, rectangular or round. You are happy to start each cycle yourself, and you would like a lighter robot to lift out of the water, since it weighs less than most of Dolphin's wall climbers.

Look Elsewhere If

You may want a different robot if you like to set a weekly schedule, because the CC has no timer and no app. It also leaves the waterline to you, so a ring of grime at the surface will still need a brush from time to time. Pools longer than 33 feet need a model with a longer rating, and Dolphin does not list step cleaning for this robot either.

Where To Buy

Key Features

Brush And Suction. Dolphin fits the CC with one standard brush and marks it as active, which means the brush is powered and scrubs as the robot moves, rather than simply riding along. That can make a difference on walls, where a thin film of dirt or algae tends to cling. Suction is rated at 4,000 gallons per hour. Dolphin does not give a micron figure for the fine filter kit, so the spec sheet cannot tell you how much very fine silt it holds back.

Filter Access. The filter basket comes out through the top. When you open the cover, the handle rises on its own, so you can lift the basket out without turning the robot over, and a latch on the bottom lid lets the debris drop straight out. It is a small design detail, but it keeps a messy job short.

Starting Each Cycle. There is no weekly timer, no delayed start and no app. You switch the CC on at the power supply, it runs a single two-hour cycle, and then it stops until you start it again. If you are at home most days, this is easy to live with. If you travel a lot in summer, a model with scheduling could keep the pool tidier while you are away.

Weight And Handling. At 14.8 pounds, the CC is one of the lighter wall-climbing robots in Dolphin's range, and it is about six pounds lighter than the Nautilus CC Plus. You lift it out by the handle, never by the cable, and it helps to let the water drain before you carry it to the side.

Pool Size And Shape. Dolphin rates the CC for pools up to 33 feet long, and its spec sheet lists rectangular and round shapes, both inground and above-ground. Free-form pools are not on that list, so if your pool has curves or an unusual outline, it is worth checking with Dolphin before you buy.

How It Compares

Dolphin Nautilus CC Plus Check Price on Amazon

Dolphin Nautilus CC Plus is the Wi-Fi version of this robot. It adds app scheduling and a swivel on the cable, which helps stop the cable from twisting, and Dolphin rates it for longer pools of up to 40 feet. Its suction is rated higher, at 4,500 gallons per hour. In exchange, it weighs 20.8 pounds, its two brushes are not powered, and it is cleared for inground pools only. It is worth the step up if you want to run a schedule from your phone or your pool is longer than 33 feet.

Dolphin Advantage Check Price on Amazon

Dolphin Advantage is the closer match if a timer is the only thing you miss. It has the same 33-foot rating, the same rated suction of 4,000 gallons per hour and an active brush, but it adds onboard scheduling, so it can start without you. It weighs 14.6 pounds and comes with a 50-foot cable, a figure the CC's spec sheet does not give. For a pool of this size, it is the natural alternative.

Worth Knowing

The CC has no swivel on its cable, so it is a good idea to untwist the cable now and then. Its spec sheet and manual do not give the cable length either, so if your power outlet is far from the pool, check the length with the seller or Dolphin before you buy. The warranty is 1 year. Dolphin's product page mentions a weekly timer in its description, but its spec table says there is none, and this page follows the table.

Care And Maintenance

From the Dolphin manual:

  1. Switch off and unplug the power supply before you take the robot out.
  2. Pull it to the edge by the cable, then lift it by the handle, never by the cable, and let the water drain.
  3. Clean the filter basket after every cycle, before the debris dries on it.
  4. Once a month, take the ultra-fine filter panels apart and hose them through.
  5. For storage, drain it, clean the filters, and roll the cable up without kinks, out of sun and frost.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the Nautilus CC clean the walls?

Yes. It scrubs the floor and the walls, but Dolphin does not list the waterline, so the band at the surface still needs a brush now and then.

Can I schedule it?

No. There is no weekly timer, delayed start or app, so each two-hour cycle begins when you switch it on at the power supply.

Will it work in an above-ground pool?

Yes. Dolphin lists both inground and above-ground pools for the CC, in rectangular and round shapes, up to 33 feet long.

Does it work in a saltwater pool?

Yes. The manual's water conditions allow saltwater pools within its stated salt limit, as well as chlorine pools.

Is the brush powered?

Yes. Dolphin marks the single standard brush as active, which means it is powered rather than just riding along as the robot moves.

Is the Nautilus CC Plus worth the step up?

It can be, if you want app scheduling or your pool is longer than 33 feet. If neither applies, the CC covers the same floor and walls with a lighter body and a powered brush.

What warranty does it come with?

One year, according to Dolphin. That is the same term as the Nautilus CC Plus.
